Biblical Principles for Christian Business Owners
A business that seeks to be successful and distinctive from its competitors ought to be formed under the Christian principles. The following are some Biblical guidelines to help you manage a Christian-based business.
Whatever work you are doing, do it with enthusiasm and with due diligence as advised in Ephesians 4:1. It is not God’s desire to be stuck in a particular situation, hence; experiment and new ways of building your business. Jesus too was an innovator and He made great things happen as seen in John 14:12.
The atmosphere of your business should be distinctive and it should operate in ways that bring glory to God. Your actions, decision, and thinking should be influenced by the presence of God in your life. Also strive to do it heartily for God and not for men.
In order to build a loyal customer base, deliver what you promised in terms of the quality of the product or service. Cheating your customers will lower your reputation and you will not be imitating the example of Christ. Even the scripture says that a good name is better than great riches.
As Paul said in (Titus 3:8), devote yourself to doing what is good to make it profitable for everyone else. Provide your clients with the highest level of customer service in order to honor God. By doing this, you will be exalting the word of God through your employees as well as your customers.
Success of a business is good but do not engage in selfish ways to acquire more wealth while depressing your customers. As Matthew 6:33 says, Seek first the kingdom of God and all the other things shall be added unto you. On the other hand, if you make good profit, always be generous and donate to the needy.
Employees play an important role in the growth and development of an organization, hence; they should be treated with utmost respect and kindness. Compesate them fairly and recognize their performance without focusing on their age, gender, color or race. When you recognize the needs and efforts of your employees, they will be happy working for you and as a result, they will bring out the best in them.
As a Christina business person, you can never be right all the time, therefore, take criticism as a way of developing your business. Do not let your pride get in the way of your success, hence; implement constructive ideas and suggestions from your employees and clients. This way, you will not only improve your business but also create a friendly environment for your employees and customers.
